Award for Structural Design Project
2026/03/05 by NB
The “Structural Design” project recently received an award from the Lightweight Structures Association of the University of Stuttgart.
The award ceremony took place on March 5, 2026, at the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design (ILEK) at the University of Stuttgart. The event was held in the renowned tent structure designed by Frei Otto.
The award-winning project involved the following students from the Technical University of Darmstadt: Alessandro Garruto, Ahmet-Münir Telci, Max Rösner, and Summer Wazy.
The project focuses on the development of a new generation of concrete floor systems. At its core is an innovative approach in which the structures are topology-optimized, resource-efficiently designed, and manufactured entirely using 3D printing technology. The objective is to use materials more efficiently while unlocking new structural possibilities in the field of digital construction.
Photographs documenting the award ceremony and the recognition of the project were also taken during the event.
We warmly congratulate the award recipients on this outstanding achievement.
