The Stuttgart-based Leichtbauverein (Association for the Promotion of Lightweight Structures) is awarding its Lightweight Construction Prize for the 18th time this year. The prize is intended to honor outstanding student work and theses in the field of lightweight construction.

The Stuttgarter Leichtbaupreis is a promotional award for students of architecture, civil engineering, design, aeronautical engineering and mechanical engineering in the context of their design, study, diploma or master's thesis. The prize is intended to promote work in the field of lightweight construction in order to honour the interest and commitment of students in this field. In addition to the usual disciplines, the focus is also on the so-called extended lightweight design. This considers the energy requirements, all emissions caused over the life cycle and the recyclability of an object.

The Stuttgarter Leichtbaupreis is offered nationwide in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Participation is free of charge. Further information and conditions for participation in 2023 can be found on the Leichtbauverein website

Deadline: Entries must be submitted by Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

The Leichtbauverein is a non-profit association with the aim of spreading the principles and philosophy of lightweight construction. For the 18th time, the Stuttgart-based association, chaired by professor Stefan Schäfer and Prof. Dr.-Ing. M.Arch. Lucio Blandini is awarding the Stuttgarter Leichtbaupreis, which is endowed with a total of 1,200 euros.
