Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 666

In the Collaborative Research Center 666 of the Technische Universität Darmstadt, an interdisciplinary team of machine builders, mathematicians, material scientists, architects and civil engineers are engaged in the design of ribbed metal sheet shells and their application potentials in the building trade.

The procedures of split bending and split profiling allow a production of integrally bifurcated sheet structures. Here, thin sheets are split linearly on the sheet level and transformed to flat ribbed sheet metals in a bending process. In combination with the process of interior high pressure reshaping, reinforced sheet shells can be produced from these bifurcated structures.
